Elon Musks X

Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, is under investigation in Austria for potential data privacy violations. The Austrian privacy group “None of Your Business” (NOYB), led by Max Schrems, filed a complaint accusing X of using EU users’ data to train AI without their consent.

The NOYB complaint claims that from May 7, 2024, to August 1, 2024, X used personal data to train an AI model without informing users or getting their consent, which is against GDPR. The group is urging Austrian authorities to enforce EU data protection laws.

Reason of investigation for Elon Musk’s X (Social Media Platform)

On August 8, X agreed to temporarily stop using European user data for AI training due to legal pressure and informed the Irish High Court. However, there are still concerns about what will happen to the data collected before this decision.

It’s also important to note that X’s main EU regulator, the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), has sued the platform. The DPC wants to stop X from using user data for AI training, arguing that it breaks GDPR laws. This is part of a larger European push to regulate the data practices of big tech companies.

The DPC has also filed complaints against X in Belgium and France, demanding stricter data privacy compliance. This follows the DPC’s move that forced Meta to halt its AI operations in Europe for similar reasons.

Elon Musk will meet U.S. Republican candidate Donald Trump on X Spaces, adding to the platform’s legal issues. The results of these investigations could influence AI regulations in the EU and affect tech companies there.
